On your wedding day there are so many details you have to worry about, but ensuring that your flowers look their best does not have to be one of them. We have put together a Wedding Day Flower Care Guide that should answer all the questions you may have such as whether to keep them in water and how to transport from wedding to reception and maybe even some you haven’t thought of like the best way to hold the bouquet and what to do if a flower breaks.
What should I do once the flowers arrive?
All arrangements will be packed for freshness and protection when they arrive to their destination. Flowers love cool environments so keep the flowers out of heat and direct sunlight in their packaging until ready to use. If you use them to take pictures before the wedding, just put the bouquets back in the water so they will be at the peak freshness for the walk down the aisle.
What do I need to do to get the bouquets ready for pictures or the ceremony?
We will send 1-2 towels with the bouquets to dry the stems off, but it wouldn’t hurt to have extra towels on hand just in case. You will want to dry off the boutonnieres as well before pinning and don’t forget to take the labels off unless you want the groom to have a special tag that labels him as the “groom”!
Is there a special way to hold the bouquets?
As you dry off the stems of the bouquets, you will notice that they have pins or a brooch. The bouquets are designed for you to hold the pins or brooch towards you. Fortunately, we make all our arrangements so they will look great at every angle so if you forget, no one will be the wiser! For rounder bouquets, it won’t matter how you hold it.
What do I do if a flower in an arrangement breaks?
Flowers are very fragile and if handled roughly, they will break. If a bloom does break off, don’t worry! You can always stick the bloom back into the bouquet and sprinkle the petals with some water or just toss it out. There are plenty of other flowers there so no one will even notice. We make the bouquets durable when held correctly so it is not very likely that you will have any of the flowers in your arrangements breaking. It wouldn’t hurt to hold off on practicing the bouquet toss until after you get to the reception though!
How do I get the flowers to the reception in one piece?
Getting to the reception with your flowers intact should be no problem. The best way to transport the flowers is to put them back in the box they were originally delivered in or can each person can hold their own floral item for the drive. If you are transporting large arrangements or pew markers from the ceremony to reception let us know and we can guide you further on how to transport them. Most large arrangements come in 2-4 different pieces and will need to be taken apart and placed on a flat surface with a lot of space. There is also the risk of water spilling. Don’t want the headache of transporting? We now offer transfer and teardown services for select dates and locations!
